Making a Difference Through Companionship and Service
Scouts for Seniors brings Scout Troops, Crews, and Ships together with seniors through letter-writing campaigns, visits, and service projects. Our volunteers write thoughtful, encouraging letters to older adults in local communities, nursing homes, and senior centers. These letters brighten seniors’ days, combat loneliness, and create meaningful connections across generations. Through this simple yet impactful act, Scouts practice kindness, communication, and service while making a real difference in the lives of seniors.

Make Someone Smile
Scouts for Seniors connects Scouts with older adults through the simple act of communication. Scouts groups volunteer to participate in letter-writing campaigns, deliver letters during a visit, or host service projects and events at senior living communities. These acts brighten seniors’ days, combat loneliness, and create meaningful connections across generations. Through this project, Scouts practice kindness, empathy, and leadership—one letter at a time.
About Us

From our Founder
Hi, I’m Jane!
I’m a freshman at The Nueva School in San Mateo, and I split my time between San Francisco and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Growing up between city life and the outdoors has shaped who I am. I was named after Dr. Jane Goodall, whose life of curiosity, courage, and service has always inspired me. A love of nature and giving back feels embedded in who I am.
I’m proud to be an Eagle Scout with Troop 673 Mountain Girls in Santa Cruz County. I’m also active in a Venture Crew in Santa Cruz County and the Sea Scouts in San Francisco. Scouting has shaped me in powerful ways. Research shows that young people involved in Scouting are significantly more likely to take on leadership roles in school and their communities, volunteer regularly, and develop strong teamwork and problem solving skills. Scouts consistently report higher confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility. I’ve experienced that growth firsthand. From leading projects to navigating challenges outdoors, I’ve learned how to set goals, stay steady when things get hard, and bring people together around a shared purpose.

I am a huge advocate for the benefits of Scouting for youth. I believe it builds character, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to service. I enjoy speaking about that impact and sharing my experience with others. I even had the opportunity to speak in front of more than 500 people alongside Dr. Condoleezza Rice, sharing why youth leadership development matters and how Scouting helps young people step into their potential.
Service is one of the most important parts of my life. Through Scouts for Seniors, I combine my love of community with my passion for helping others, especially older adults. I believe seniors have incredible stories, wisdom, and experience to share, and I’m excited to create meaningful connections across generations.
When I’m not in school, scouting, or supporting seniors, you’ll usually find me creating something. I love designing, crafting, and bringing new ideas to life. I’m always curious and excited to learn something new.
Thanks for visiting my page. I’m so glad you’re here!
